MR. FIXIT »»»»»»»»»

"Mr. Fixit" is the working title for a computer puzzle game I am working on. Hopefully by putting info on it on this site, I will have an incentive to keep working on it.

News

9-24-02: Mr. Fixit is back (sort of). I've added a new download, a Windows executable. I've also redone the source, converting it to pure C. Now it should actually compile. I haven't posted the new source yet, though.

3-12: Mr. Fixit is taking a hiatus, while I work on other projects. (Keep checking back to see what they are!)

12-19: OK, the new beta is up.

12-13: No, I haven't abandoned this project. I've just been busy with finals, that all. I'll post a new version (with a few bugs fixed, and a skin-able game interface) after things slow down.

11-4: Beta download is up! Go to the Download page!

10-13: Screenshots are up. I just need to fix a few bugs and I'll post the beta.

10-5: Game animation, and even sound, is done! I'm surprised at how easy it was. Now I just need to fix a few bugs, add the Password and Best Times code, and we'll be ready for beta! I'll post a screenshot later, if I remember.

9-29: Level editor is reasonably finished, now I'm working on the game animation. This will be the hard part. I'll release a beta when everything seems to be working right. Or something like that.

9-25: Decided to not use page flipping for animation. I'll just draw to a memory bitmap, then blit to the screen. (Maybe I can even draw to the screen between refreshes.)

9-20: I redid all the game graphics after discovering Smacker. It does a much better job of reducing 24-bit rendered images to 256 colors than any other tool I've seen. The dithering in the game GFXs annoyed me; now there isn't any. I'm working on adding disk ops to the level editor (save, load, etc.).

9-16: Not much, I'm working on the level editor right now ("Always write your tools first"). I installed an old Hercules card in my PC and added a monochrome monitor for debugging purposes. I've also decided not to implement custom parts; it was going to be too much of a coding hassle.
